Advanced Tectonics Grading Scale

A combination of point, percentage, and letter grades are utilized for evaluation of student performance in this course. Tests are scored on points, usually 70-80 per test, which are converted into percentage grades. Lab exercises are marked on a 10-point scale, and the semester total lab score is converted into a percentage grade. Final course grades are reported as letters (A-F) with +/- designations, according to current university policy. Incomplete (I) grades will be considered only in extreme circumstances, such as severe illness, major accident, military service, etc.

Policy on incomplete grades: An I must be completed within one semester, or it will automatically be converted to an F. Course work for incomplete grades will be accepted through the last day of classes in the semester following the course (excluding summer). All necessary course materials must be handed in by that date. Additional assignments will not be accepted during finals week. Extensions of the period for incomplete grades will not be allowed.

Note: Student tests and exercises may be kept on file in paper or digital format for at least one year. These documents may be consulted to resolve any concerns about grading.
