Nov. 20: On Friday the 13th, your instructor and his wife conducted kite aerial photography at the Elk River Wind Farm in the Flint Hills, south-central Kansas. In spite of the unlucky date and other difficult conditions, we had some success--see wind energy. This is an introduction to what we might do for class field trips during spring break.
Students can begin online lectures anytime--see schedule. The pdf readings are not yet available; those will be added later. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Welcome! ES 555 Small Format Aerial Photography will be taught during the spring semester, 2010. The course combines web lectures, lab exercises, and field trips. Students will gain experience with kite and blimp aerial photography, as methods of small-format aerial photography--see Great Plains aerial photography. The course is available for both on-campus and distance-learning students.
Field trips will be scheduled during spring break, March 13-21, depending on suitable (fair) weather. Campus and distance-learning students located in eastern Kansas and adjacent Missouri and Oklahoma are expected to participate in field trips. Other students should consult with your instructor for individual arrangements.
