LI 835 Information Transfer in the Disciplines |
According to the Emporia State University School of Library and Information Management course catalog description, this course includes:
LI 835 - Information Transfer in Disciplines (2 credit hours)
The nature of the questions and guiding paradigms within the academic disciplines is the primary object of study in this course. Scholar’s requirements, lay requirements, and methods of partnering with clients to foster useful searching, analysis, and synthesis are considered in depth (slim.emporia.edu/programs/mlscurriculum.htm).
With this in mind, this course was designed to introduce students to how information is transferred or communicated in various disciplines with regard to teaching. The emphasis will be on academic libraries and duties of liaison positions. This includes the determination of appropriate services and resources when a client-centered focus is adopted. The course is intended primarily for graduate students in library, information, or communication school programs or practitioners in the library and information professions who could benefit through professional development.
This course was offered spring 2007 semester as an elective and some of the course is still available with open access (see academic.emporia.edu/abersusa/835/syllabus.htm for links). Also, visit student online project presentations, academic.emporia.edu/abersusa/835/projects.htm, as well as the ESU webpage, slim.emporia.edu/program/syllabus/syllabus.htm, to see when the course may be offered again.
