Final Student Projects in
Information Transfer in the Disciplines

One way librarians facilitate information transfer in various disciplines is by acting as an intermediary between information and people. This liaison role works best when information in the field of study is known to the librarian, but simple methods were applied in this course to investigate unfamiliar disciplines by approaching an expert in the field directly. In an academic situation, adopting a model of asking and observing faculty and classroom provides an awareness of the discipline for the librarian and an introduction to the library and librarian for faculty and student.

Final course projects included assembling print and electronic reference pathfinders, or essays on some aspect of information transfer in the disciplines. A sampling follows.
