Human/Environment Interaction – How do people interact with the environment?

• Environment means different things to people depending on their culture and technology access. When interacting with their surroundings people can change the environment; for example building roads, cities, and dams. Sometimes nature changes the environment with floods, earthquakes, and tornadoes.

• There are three ways humans interact with their environment;

  • Humans adapt to their environment

    • Natural hazards/disasters

  • Humans Modify their environment

    • Environmental issues

    • Major industries

  • Humans depend on their environment        

    • Agricultural products

    • Land use
