Thanks for visiting
the World of Amber!
This map shows an area where much of the Baltic amber
comes from today, from Poland east through Russia. Amber
finds on this map include Hel (tip of sand spit extending
into Gdansk Bay, Poland); Gdansk, Poland; Baltiysk (Baltijsk/Pillau),
Primorsk, Yantarnyi (Jantarnyz/Palmnicken), and Kaliningrad (Konnigsberg),
all on the Sambia Peninsula (Samland); and along the sandbar and lagoon,
Courish Lagoon (Kurskiy Zaliv/Kurisches Haff) or the area north of
Zelenogradsk (Zielonogradsk). More Baltic amber is found
just off this map to the north in Palanga, Lithuania.
