Introduction To Theme
I am a student at Emporia
State University and this was written as an assignment in my Earth Science
Lab class. I am not an expert on topography so please do not use
this for any references. On this web page I will introduce the term
topography, by describing topographic maps and how to distinguish items
on the maps.
The last few weeks we have been discussing topographic
maps. Topographic Maps use topography, which is the configuration
of the Earth's surface. These maps have lines going every which way
and can be extremely confusing unless you understand contour lines, townships,
and ranges. "Topographic Maps not only provide location and
elevation information, but can also show geomorphic features, such as those
created by streams"(Johnston, Aber, and Ye, 1996, p. 65).
