class activityOne of our first events was a lunch during which Marianne and Cheng Jianfang, who is the director of the International Programme Department, exchanged gifts. All of us got t-shirts from Beijing Union University.

class activityZhao Sitong was our singing teacher. She taught us a Chinese folk song "Mo Li Hua", which is a folk song about a jasmine flower. Sitong has her master's degree in voice with a specialization in Italian opera.
One afternoon we attended a party for the International Students at Beijing Union University.class activity
class activityOne of the activities was for us to singing a couple of American songs and to sing "Mo Li Hua", which we had learned earlier that afternoon. We received a nice round of applause for our efforts.

class activityThis is Song Feng Ying teaching Robert how to make a Chinese knot. This was a part of our craft/cultural activities.
One afternoon we spent an hour or so learning a drill in Tai Chi sword fighting. Our teacher was Wang Zhi Jing. We did this on the athletic field at Beijing Union University.class activity

Li Xiaojing was our listening teacher and she is also a graduate student in linguistics in Beijing.class activity
class activityThis is Wang Shu Guo. Shu Guo, who worked for the International Programme Department, took us on several trips around Beijing and also spent countless hours answering our many questions about China. On this evening he took us to an acrobatic show.

On the Monday before coming home, there was a graduation ceremony. This is Rebecca getting her certificate from Cheng Jianfang, who is the Director of the International Programme Department.class activity
