Please respond to the following questions on a separate sheet of paper and return it with this application (please do not forget to write your name on it). Please type your responses.
- Why have you chosen to apply to this learning community? What do you hope to gain from the experience?
- What can you contribute to the leaning community? What background, experiences, or influences contribute to your interest in participating in this learning community?
Criteria to be eligible for membership in the learning community
- You should have a genuine interest in the purpose and goals of the LC.
- You must be majoring in Biology or exhibit a strong interest in the purpose of the LC. Note: Even if you are not majoring in Biology, you must still assume responsibilities taken on by participating in the LC.
- Have an ACT in mathematics of 20 or higher. This is the minimal level to be able to enroll in College Algebra (MA 110), which you would need to take if you have not already done so.
- Agree to be enrolled in the appropriate sections of Principles of Biology and Lab (GB 140/141), Chemistry I and Lab (CH 123/124), and Freshman Seminar (CW 101). Failure to take all of these classes the first semester or withdrawing from any of these classes will require you to withdraw from the LC.
- A willingness to support the LC by attending programs and activities that expand your knowledge and understanding of biology.
- A willingness to participate in the planning of at least one LC group project/activity per term.
I have read and understand the "Criteria to be Eligible for Membership in the Biology Learning Community" and agree to meet these criteria. I understand that if I am accepted in to the LC and fail to meet the requirements, then I will be required to withdraw from the LC.
