TELEPHONE NUMBER(S):

REQUIRED TEXTS: Schermerhorn, Hunt, and Osborn (2000), Organizational Behavior, Seventh Edition, Wiley.

SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS: Any required will be distributed in class.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course follows the behavior of individuals in an organization, develops the behavior changes found in work groups, the behavior of groups in intergroup conflict and goal setting and finally how behavior is a consideration of organizational design and organizational change.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE COURSE: This course will include at least one individual oral presentation to the class by each student, including the use of media material. Oral presentations will be peer reviewed in addition to review by the instructor. There will be a two Group Projects, which will include both an oral and written presentation by the group. The class will use Internet and other resources, including e-mail and the World Wide Web to locate, analyze, and report on additional sources of information of value to enhance individual student understanding of specific topic areas on the course. This material will be presented by way of the class Web Home Page for peer review and use by individual students as well as to share with other interested parties. An Electronic Journal Article is required, to be prepared by each individual student, to be published in the ESU On-Line Management Journal.

COURSE EVALUATION PROCESS: Activities assigned during the course provide the opportunity for each student to earn and accumulate points according the following schedule:

Letter grades will be assigned based on accumulated points as follows: ATTENDANCE POLICY: Regular attendance and participation each day is expected of each student, both physically and mentally. Each student is expected to have read the assigned materials and completed any assignments prior to the beginning of each class period. (Also, it is the responsibility of each individual student to enroll and withdraw from this class, and to understand the rules and procedures for doing so.) Each student will begin the course with 100 points in this area. Unexcused absence from class is a three point deduction for the first half of class and a three point deduction for the second half of class. A phone message or e-mail note for a legitimate absence will be considered for an excused absence.  For each hour of class missed, for any reason, one point will be deducted, for lack of participation. You can't participate if you are not present with your classmates. A class missed cannot be made up - discussions by the instructor or by fellow classmates, once held, are gone forever - you will have missed something important from the course. Participation points will be earned through pop quizzes, peer review from discussion groups, and in other participation activities which I will conduct during the term. I reserve the right to assign these specific points, equitable, in the best interests of the conduct of the class and of the individual student.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: At Emporia State University, academic dishonesty is a basis for disciplinary action. Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to activities such as cheating and plagiarism (presenting as one's own the intellectual or creative accomplishments of another without giving credit to the source or sources). The faculty member in whose course or under whose tutelage an act of academic dishonesty occurs has the option of failing the student for the academic hours in question and may refer the case to other academic personnel for further action. Emporia State University may impose penalties for academic dishonesty up to and including expulsion from the university. This policy provided according to the Kansas Board of Regents directive.
